Everything you need to know before you order
A fixative slows down the evaporation of your fragrance oils so the scent stays on skin and fabric for hours instead of fading in 2–3 hours. It also stabilises the formula preventing oxidation, colour shifts and scent degradation. Without a fixative, even a premium fragrance oil will underperform in the final perfume.
Choose AromaFix if you want one balanced, all-in-one blend for longevity, stability and smooth solubility use up to 6% in your formulation. Choose AromaBoost if your priority is powerful projection and sillage it is built on a high concentration of Ambroxane and works at just 1–5% dosage. Many perfumers use AromaFix as their base fixative and add AromaBoost only to their premium lines.
Recommended dosage depends on the product: AromaFix - up to 6% of the total formulation. AromaBoost - 1–5% depending on desired impact. Galaxolide 50% + IPM 50% - 5–15% in fine fragrance oil composition. Always start at the lower end, test on a blotter and skin, then increase gradually. Overdosing a fixative can flatten the top notes.
At recommended dosages, the effect on the scent profile is minimal. Materials like Galaxolide add a soft clean musk, Hedione adds a radiant floral lift, and Iso E Super adds a smooth woody nuance these generally enhance rather than alter a composition. Solvents like IPM and DPG are practically odourless. We always recommend a small test batch before scaling to production.
