Clove Bud Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the dried, unopened flower buds of Syzygium aromaticum (syn. Eugenia caryophyllus), the evergreen clove tree of the Myrtaceae family native to the Moluccas and today cultivated in Indonesia, Madagascar, Zanzibar and southern India. Bud oil is the finest of the clove oils - sweeter and more refined than clove leaf or stem oil.

Aroma: warm, sweet-spicy and intensely penetrating, built around the phenolic character of eugenol, with soft fruity-woody undertones and a carnation-like floral nuance. Extremely diffusive and long-lasting.

Uses: a cornerstone of spicy-oriental perfumery and the classic source of the "carnation" note; used at low levels to add warmth, spice and radiance. Widely used in spiced and festive soaps and candles, oral-care and toothpaste flavours, and in warming aromatherapy and massage blends at very low dilution.

  • Botanical name: Syzygium aromaticum (L.) Merr. & L.M.Perry
  • Plant part / method: dried flower buds, steam distillation
  • Key constituents: eugenol (~80-90%), eugenyl acetate, beta-caryophyllene
  • Note / family: heart-to-base - warm spicy, phenolic
  • Blends well with: orange, bergamot, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, ylang ylang, rose, sandalwood, lavender, clary sage

Safety: eugenol is IFRA-restricted and a known skin / mucous-membrane irritant - formulate at low levels, always dilute, and avoid during pregnancy or with anticoagulant medication.

Available in 100gm, 500gm, 1kg & 5kg. 100% pure, undiluted essential oil - no carriers, no synthetics.
