Elemi Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the soft, fragrant oleoresin (gum) that exudes from the trunk of Canarium luzonicum (Burseraceae), a tall tree native to the Philippines - the same botanical family as frankincense and myrrh. Known as Manila elemi, it has been used in incense, varnishes and healing ointments for centuries.

Aroma: fresh, bright and lemony-citrus with a distinctive peppery-spicy edge and a soft, resinous, frankincense-like balsamic body - often described as "frankincense with a lemon twist". Lighter and brighter than most resinous oils.

Uses: a fresh resinous note and mild fixative in citrus, woody and incense-style perfumery, and a prized oil in aromatherapy for meditation, calm and clarity (a lighter alternative to frankincense). Traditionally used in skincare for mature skin. Also used in soaps, candles and incense.

Recommended dosage Perfumery: 0.5-5% depending on oil; Aromatherapy topical blends: 0.5-2% (skin); Diffusion: 2-8 drops per 100 ml water.

Warnings Generally safe when diluted; oxidised oil (high limonene / phellandrene) can sensitise - keep fresh and sealed. Dilute before skin use. For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
