Frankincense Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the oleo-gum-resin of Boswellia serrata (Burseraceae), the Indian frankincense or Salai tree of the dry forests of central India - the species used in Ayurveda for millennia and known in Sanskrit as Shallaki. Indian frankincense is fresher and more citrus-pine than the Somali and Omani species (B. carterii, B. sacra), and more accessibly priced.

Aroma: clean, fresh and resinous - a bright citrus-pine opening over a warm, balsamic-woody, softly sweet incense body. Lighter and brighter than Arabian frankincense, with the same calm, sacred depth beneath.

Uses: a classic resinous heart-to-base note and fixative in incense, woody and oriental perfumery, and one of the most important aromatherapy oils for meditation, calm, slow breathing and stress. Traditionally valued in mature and sensitive skincare. Also used in incense, soaps, candles and diffusers.

Recommended dosage Perfumery: 0.5-5% depending on oil; Aromatherapy topical blends: 0.5-2% (skin); Diffusion: 2-8 drops per 100 ml water.

Warnings Generally safe and well tolerated when diluted; oxidised oil (monoterpenes) can sensitise - keep fresh and sealed. For external use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets.
