Fresh Ginger Essential Oil is steam-distilled from freshly harvested rhizomes of Zingiber officinale (Zingiberaceae) grown in Madagascar. Distilling the fresh (rather than dried) root preserves the volatile lemony top notes, giving an oil that is brighter, zestier and far closer to the smell of freshly cut ginger than the earthier dried-ginger oils of India and China.

Aroma: warm, spicy and vibrantly fresh - a bright, zesty, lemony-ginger top over a rich, peppery-warm and softly woody-sweet body. Lively, clean and energising.

Uses: the perfumer's preferred ginger, used in modern citrus-ginger, spicy-woody and fougere fragrances for a sparkling spicy lift. In aromatherapy it is warming and reviving - used for fatigue, nausea, travel sickness and winter chills, and in warming massage blends. Also used in soaps, candles and diffusers.

  • Botanical name: Zingiber officinale Roscoe
  • Plant part / method: fresh rhizomes, steam distillation
  • Key constituents: zingiberene, ar-curcumene, beta-sesquiphellandrene, camphene, geranial / neral (citral), beta-bisabolene
  • Note / family: top-to-heart - warm spicy, fresh, citrus
  • Blends well with: lemon, lime, grapefruit, bergamot, cardamom, black pepper, cedarwood, sandalwood, vetiver, ylang ylang, neroli

Safety: generally well tolerated; dilute before skin use.

Available in 100gm, 500gm, 1kg & 5kg. 100% pure, undiluted essential oil - no carriers, no synthetics.
