Grapefruit Essential Oil is cold-pressed from the peel of Citrus paradisi (Rutaceae), the large, tangy citrus that originated as a hybrid of pomelo and sweet orange in the Caribbean and is now grown across the USA, Israel, South Africa and India.

Aroma: fresh, sharp and sweet-tart citrus - juicy and slightly bitter, with the unmistakable grapefruit tang that comes from the trace sesquiterpene nootkatone, and a clean, zesty brightness. More sophisticated and less sugary than orange.

Uses: a favourite modern top note in fresh, fruity and sporty perfumery (classic pairing with vetiver), where it adds a tangy, mouth-watering sparkle. In aromatherapy it is energising and uplifting, used for fatigue, low mood and in toning body-care blends. Also used in soaps, candles, diffusers and room sprays.
