Lemongrass Essential Oil is steam-distilled from the fresh or partly dried leaves of East Indian lemongrass, Cymbopogon flexuosus (Poaceae), cultivated on a large scale in Kerala and across South India - the world's leading origin. It is one of the richest natural sources of citral.

Aroma: intensely fresh, strong and lemony - a sharp citral-citrus character with grassy-herbaceous, slightly sweet and earthy-green undertones. Powerful, penetrating and unmistakable.

Uses: the lemony workhorse of functional fragrance - soaps, detergents, candles, household cleaners and air care - and a classic ingredient of natural insect-repellent sprays. In aromatherapy it is energising, refreshing and purifying, used for fatigue and low mood and to freshen the air. Also a major raw material for natural citral.

  • Botanical name: Cymbopogon flexuosus (Nees ex Steud.) W.Watson
  • Plant part / method: leaves (grass), steam distillation
  • Key constituents: citral (geranial + neral, 70-85%), geraniol, limonene, geranyl acetate
  • Note / family: top - citrus, green, herbal
  • Blends well with: lavender, rosemary, geranium, basil, tea tree, eucalyptus, cedarwood, vetiver, patchouli, ginger

Safety: citral is a sensitiser (IFRA-restricted) - always dilute, avoid sensitive and children's skin, keep fresh and avoid in pregnancy.

Available in 100gm, 500gm, 1kg & 5kg. 100% pure, undiluted essential oil - no carriers, no synthetics.
