Mandarin Essential Oil is cold-pressed from the peel of Citrus reticulata (Rutaceae), the loose-skinned mandarin orange cultivated widely in India, Italy and Brazil. Its distinctive softness comes from a trace of methyl N-methylanthranilate - the same molecule that gives neroli and petitgrain their honeyed-floral glow.

Aroma: soft, sweet and fruity citrus with a gentle floral-honeyed undertone - rounder, warmer and gentler than orange or lemon, like the smell of peeling a ripe mandarin.

Uses: a sweet, juicy top note in citrus, floral-fruity and gourmand perfumery and a favourite "gentle" oil in aromatherapy - used for stress, restlessness and bedtime blends and often chosen for children's and pregnancy-safe formulas (suitably diluted). Also used in skincare, soaps, candles and diffusers.
